   Can the Fluval G3 or G6 filter system be used in place of the Fluval 05 Series cannister filter on your Fluval Vicenza, Venezia, Profile and Frontier Designer Aquariums via the through tank connectors? Thank you.

   Exceptional Filter…
   I set up my Fluval G6 on my 75 gallon african cichlid tank and it has exceeded my expectations as far as performance and quality.
   The colony of tropheus residing in the tank have taken to the new filter quite well…they seem to appreciate the increased water flow. The previous filter was a fluval 405, which I was completely happy with, but had to clean it more often than I would prefer. The tropheus are like gold fish in that they create A LOT of waste. To clean the 405 I would have to take the filter to the sink, dump, rinse the pads, and return it to the cabinet. Now I know, it’s not that bad, but it was enough to deter me from cleaning it as frequently as I should. The G allows me to clean the filter without a hassle as often as I like…it is truly the easiest canister to maintenance that I have ever owned. The display is really helpful in monitoring the filters flow rate. The conductivity aspect has also proven to be rather helpful. You can really see how a water change impacts this reading and how it can help you determine whether a water change is really necessary. All in all, the displays capabilities are a really nice feature.

   The short List…
   Cons
   -Cost – while expensive, you do get what you pay for…The build quality really stands out.
   -Intake/Out Put – I like the new configuration, but with the 405 I was able to feed out as much tubing as I would like to position the intake or out-put anywhere in the water column. I believe you can get extra pieces to add on to fix this.

   Pros
   -Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance! I just can’t say enough about this aspect
   -Quiet and powerful (665 gph of power!)
   -Unique Monitoring system- the graphs, the alerts, the real time info…all things that are useful and relevant
   -Media Options- I really like that I don’t have to use special G media. The chemical cartridge pops open allowing me to use anything I want!
   -Looks great- now I know that this has no bearing on its functionality, but you have to admit that it looks sharp.

   Just a little background on the poster. I previously worked at a pet store all throughout high school and college and have kept and maintained many aquariums with many different types of fish. Most notably Africans, which I used to breed quite extensively to pay for the hobby. I guess what I am saying is that I have seen, used, and broke several pieces of equipment over the years. Like most who have (or used to have)hobbies, a wife, kids, house, career (I travel a lot), etc tend to put a damper on things. After a 10yr hiatus, the old 75 gallon was set up to show my 4 yr old how much fun fish can be. With that being said, I don’t have as much time as I used to. Tinkering with the tank is a luxury that I don’t have. So far, this filter has made it much easier for me to maintain an aquarium.

   I will let everyone know if there are any issues encountered

   The Fluval G series is truly a superbe product. We now carry the Fluval G filter for all Aqua fans in Switzerland in our online Shop. Our customers love it. So far we have only gotten positive feedback.
